Spurdo is one of the earliest internet meme characters, created by the community over 15 years ago on Finnish imageboard Ylilauta. It appeared approximately one year after Matt Furie created Pepe the Frog. Spurdo was widely adopted on 4chan’s /int/ board and became a foundational character in meme culture.

Spurdo directly influenced the creation of derivative memes such as $APU, $BOBO, and $DODO. It played a significant role in shaping the early aesthetics and tone of imageboard humor, particularly in the pre-meme coin era.
